Preparing for your tattoo appointment

2 weeks prior
- Protect your skin by staying out of the sun/tanning beds or extreme weather elements. If you go outside, wear sunscreen! I can not tattoo sunburnt skin.
- Moisturize your skin daily with a fragrance free body lotion. Hydrated, healthy skin is easier to tattoo.

1 week prior
- Exfoliate your skin with a gentle body scrub.
- Continue moisturizing your skin daily with body lotion.

1 day before
- Drink plenty of water and avoid drinking alcohol.
- Get a full night's rest. Getting tattooed is exhausting and you will need to be well rested to feel your best.
- Check that your payment method is organized, either cash or credit/debit card. (Payments can be split between cash and cards as well).

The day of
- If you are accustomed to shaving, you may do so. Otherwise I recommend just trimming any hair on the area to be tattooed with an electric razor if the hair is long. I will shave the area with a razor if I need to.
- If possible, avoid applying moisturizer where you are getting the tattoo. If you really feel like you need it, you may apply a very, very small amount of lotion.
- Wear comfortable, loose clothing that allows me to easily access the area to be tattooed. While I work in a private studio, I do share the space with another artist who may also be working. If you'd like, you may bring a blanket, beach towel, or large jacket to keep your body covered.
- Drink plenty of water and bring a water bottle or sports drink with you to your appointment. Do not drink alcohol or excessive caffeine.
- Eat a big meal full of protein and carbs. Sitting through a tattoo is way easier when you aren't hungry. You may also bring a snack if you have a long session. Food that isn't messy like a protein bar or hard candy will be best.
- Bring your state-issued photo ID.
- If you'd like a distraction, you can bring a book and/or headphones to listen to your own music or watch a show on your phone.
